A Whirlwind Trip to NYC Fashion Week: Honoring Women Pioneers of Circular Fashion

On February 5, we traded our flip-flops and sunny, palm tree-covered island for our Stetson hat, Lucchese boots and the snow-covered streets of New York City. For less than 24 hours, we immersed ourselves in an unforgettable evening during Fashion Week, celebrating an inspiring group of women shaping the future of fashion.

Sutton Stracke, known for Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and her boutique, the Sutton Concept, hosted her 3rd Annual Get Western Event. This year, the event honored Women Pioneers of Circular Fashion for 2025, recognizing their contributions to sustainable fashion policy in the U.S. Caye Caftans was incredibly honored to be a co-sponsor alongside RetailReworks, The Return, Sutton Brands, Canaan Marshall Design, Collin Holder and others.

Among the esteemed honorees were Rachel Kibbe, founder and CEO of American Circular Textiles, Sarah Barnes Humphrey, founder of Let’s Talk Supply Chain and Indre Rockefeller, founder of the Circularity Project. Being surrounded by such trailblazing women was nothing short of inspiring. It still feels surreal to have been included in this powerful gathering – this is a monumental moment for Caye Caftans.

We were beyond grateful for the opportunity to support and connect with fellow women in the industry. Sharing our story, our designs and the impact we’re making in our community with so many incredible individuals was a highlight of the night. Meeting Sutton herself was a joy, especially now knowing her commitment to protecting Belize's great barrier reef through her past work with Oceana. She’s just as funny and witty in person as she is on television – genuinely kind-hearted and driven to make a positive impact with the platforms she has.

At its core, Caye Caftans is more than just a fashion brand. It represents the preservation of cultural craftsmanship, the empowerment of women and the celebration of handcrafted design. Our hope is that this event will amplify our mission, inspiring even more people to appreciate and support sustainable, handcrafted fashion. Perhaps it will even open new doors for bringing more Caye Caftans to the U.S. and beyond.

Whatever the future holds, we are ready for this next adventure!
